e FIR sono liete di annunciare che dalla stagione 2010/2011 la Magners
League includerà due squadre dall’Italia.<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O
/><O:P></O:P></STRONG></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><STRONG>La decima stagione del torneo vedrà la Magners
League espandersi a 4 nazioni con l'Italia che si aggiunge ad Irlanda,
Scozia e Galles in una competizione internazionale di alto livello per 12
squadre progettata per migliorare sia gli standard di gioco che
l’appetibilità commerciale nelle Nazioni coinvolte.
</STRONG><SPAN><O:P><STRONG>Le tre Union celtiche hanno acconsentito
all’unanimità all’introduzione di due nuove super-squadre italiane e
l’accordo quadriennale vedrà Benetton Treviso e Aironi Rugby affrontare i
Campioni in carica del Munster e le altre nove squadre Celtiche secondo un
calendario di andata e ritorno. </STRONG></O:P></SPAN><SPAN><STRONG>La
scelta di accogliere le squadre Italiane arriva alla fine di un processo
di revisione sull’attuabilità di un ampliamento della competizione:
l’analisi dettagliata e le dovute verifiche sono state effettuate dal
dipartimento sportivo di Deloitte e si sono concentrare sulla capacità a
lungo termine di sostenere economicamente le squadre e di impegnarsi nella
lega. </STRONG></SPAN><SPAN><STRONG>L’ampliamento della competizione
non comporterà l’allungarsi della stagione, dal momento che gli incontri
si disputeranno anche durante le finestre internazionali del mese di
novembre e del 6 Nazioni.<O:P></O:P></STRONG></SPAN></P>
<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify" class=MsoNormal><STRONG><SPAN>David Jordan,
direttore di Celtic Rugby, ha detto: “</SPAN><EM>Si tratta di un nuovo,
grande passo avanti per la Magners League e fa seguito alla decisione di
passare ad un sistema di play-off per le prime quattro classificate per
determinare la squadra campione. Oltre a garantire un numero maggiore di
impegni agonistici per le squadre già partecipanti, l’inclusione italiana
garantirà maggiori benefici economici e una maggiore visibilità in Europa.
L’implementazione dei Play-off e della Grand Final, già dalla stagione in
corso, ha già fatto registrare un miglioramento della competitività della
Magners League e l’ingresso di due squadre italiane con molti atleti
internazionali darà un’ulteriore spinta alla competizione. Da un punto di
vista operativo questo cambiamento presenta sia nuove sfide che nuove
opportunità, e l’ingresso italiano aumenterà considerevolmente l’appeal
del nostro prodotto. Le squadre italiane potranno contare su moltissimi
atleti della Nazionale, dell’Italia A e dell’Under 20, oltre che su alcuni
atleti stranieri di altissimi livello che potranno aggiungere qualità ed
interesse al torneo</EM><SPAN>”. <O:P></O:P></SPAN></STRONG></P>
<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify" class=MsoNormal><SPAN><STRONG>In merito al
raggiungimento dell’accordo tra FIR e il Board di Celtic Rugby il
Presidente della Federazione Italiana Rugby, Giancarlo Dondi, ha
rilasciato la seguente dichiarazione: “<EM>Sono molto soddisfatto che,
dopo mesi di intense trattative, sia stato raggiunto un accordo che vedrà
due squadre italiane al via della prossima Magners Celtic League. Desidero
ringraziare il Board di Celtic Rugby, in particolare il Presidente John
Hussey e il Direttore David Jordan, per la collaborazione che ci hanno
dimostrato in questi mesi e, al tempo stesso, voglio rivolgere un
ringraziamento al Presidente della Benetton Treviso Amerino Zatta e a
Silvano Melegari, Presidente degli Aironi Rugby, per avermi affiancato
durante tutto il periodo di trattativa. Sono certo che la partecipazione
alla Magners Celtic League porterà vantaggi a tutto il nostro movimento e
avrà ripercussioni positive sulla competitività della nostra

<DIV class=abstract>Celtic Rugby is delighted to announce today (Monday, 8
March, 2010) that from next season the Magners League will include two teams
from Italy.<!-- {/abstract} --></DIV>
<DIV class=article>The 10th season of the tournament will see the Magners League
expanded to four nations as Italy joins Ireland, Scotland and Wales in a high
profile 12-team cross-border competition designed to considerably enhance both
playing standards and commercial viability for the competing
countries.<BR><BR>The three Celtic Unions have unanimously agreed to the
introduction of two new Italian super sides and the four-year agreement will see
Benetton Treviso and Aironi Rugby competing against defending champions Munster
and the other nine Celtic teams on a home and away basis.<BR><BR>Benetton
Treviso will have their headquarters at Stadio Comunale di Monigo while Aironi,
who will be based at Stadio Luigi Zaffanella, will involve various clubs from
the Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna regions.<BR><BR>The move to welcome Italian
sides comes at the end of a year-long review of the viability of expanding the
tournament, the detailed analysis and due diligence undertaken by the sports
consultancy arm of Deloittes and focusing on the basis of long term financial
capacity to support the teams and commit to the league.<BR><BR>David Jordan,
Director of Celtic Rugby, said: "This is another massive step forward for the
Magners League and follows the decision to go to a top four Play-Off system to
determine our champion team.<BR><BR>"As well as providing more fixtures for the
teams already involved this will also bring both a major cash injection into the
competition and greater exposure across Europe.<BR><BR>"The implementation of
the Plays-Offs and the Magners League Grand Final this season has already seen a
marked improvement in the competitiveness of the League and the arrival of two
Italian teams will provide another boost to the
competition.<BR><BR>"Operationally it will present new challenges, as well as
opportunities, but by introducing Italy into the Celtic fold it will also
dramatically broaden the appeal of our product.<BR><BR>"It is anticipated that
the Italian super clubs will be largely made up of Italian internationals of
full, A and under 20 levels, with a sprinkling of top class overseas players set
to provide further extra strength and spice to the tournament."<BR>Giancarlo
Dondi, President of Federazione Italiana Rugby (FIR), said: "I am very pleased
that, after months of intense negotiations, an agreement that will see two
Italian teams join the Magners League at the start of next season has been
